Cancellation and refunds — MasterKanji

Updated 2 November 2026

Stop a subscription renewing

Open Billing and choose cancellation, or use its Stripe customer portal link. Monthly and annual access continues until the displayed paid-through date, with no further renewal unless you resume it. Lifetime purchases have no recurring charge. If you cannot access Billing, email [email protected] from your account email and tell us you want to stop renewal.

Request a refund or exercise a cancellation right

Stopping future renewal is different from cancelling a purchase for a refund. Contact support with your account email, order or receipt reference if available, purchase date and what you want us to do. Do not send card numbers or security codes. You can also request transaction assistance through the help route on your Stripe/Link receipt or Link.

Your applicable consumer-law cancellation and refund rights are preserved. Where a statutory 14-day cooling-off right applies, you can exercise it without giving a reason. MasterKanji does not ask you to surrender that right for immediate access. We do not treat opening lessons as an automatic waiver. Where a refund is due, we follow the applicable deadline, including the 14-day deadline after cancellation where required. A bank or payment provider may take additional time to show the credit.

Stripe/Link’s Sold through Link refund policy covers eligible non-delivery, significant misdescription, defective digital goods and unauthorised or duplicate payments reported within 60 days. That is not a general 60-day change-of-mind guarantee. More generous mandatory rights in your country still apply. We do not override these protections with a blanket “no refunds” rule.

What happens to your learning?

A full refund or reversal removes the associated paid membership. Ordinary end-of-period cancellation keeps paid access for the paid period. Your learning progress and review history remain saved, and earned story chapters stay available. After paid access expires, lessons, scheduled reviews and practice are limited to the free course; an active membership restores eligible paid study. See the Terms for the access and review-timing policy. Deleting an account is irreversible removal of its study data and is not a refund request. Cancel renewal or request help first if you intend to leave.

Lifetime access and closure protection

Lifetime means access for as long as the MasterKanji service operates, with no recurring payment or scheduled membership expiry. It does not promise that the service will operate for your entire life. Your membership does not expire at the end of three years, and we will not introduce renewal charges to an existing lifetime purchase.

If we permanently close the core paid learning service within three years of your lifetime purchase, we will provide a proportionate refund for the unused part of that three-year period. The period starts when your purchase is confirmed and ends on its third anniversary. We calculate the refund from the amount you actually paid, including tax, multiplied by the days remaining in that period divided by its total days, rounded to the nearest minor currency unit and allowing for any refund already received for that purchase.

After the three-year period, this additional closure-refund guarantee ends. Closure after that point does not itself create a refund under this guarantee, but all applicable statutory rights and other mandatory remedies remain. We will give reasonable advance notice of a planned closure where possible and explain how to request the refund. Contact [email protected] with your purchase reference; no particular wording is required.

You can send cancellation notices by email or post to the contact details above. You do not need to provide a reason to exercise an applicable cooling-off right. We may ask for proportionate information to locate the purchase and prevent an unauthorised refund.

Problems with the service

Email support with a description and any relevant page or receipt reference. We investigate defects and billing mistakes and provide the correction, repeat performance, price reduction or refund required in the circumstances. Refunds return through the original payment method. Neither this policy nor the Terms restricts rights you cannot lawfully waive.
